Dow Fabric & Surface Care Launches New Collection

Dow Fabric & Surface Care, part of The Dow Chemical Company, intro duced a new line of biodegradable specialty surfactants at the Soap and Detergent Association’s 83rd Annual Meeting and Industry Convention in Boca Raton, FL.

The new Ecosurf EH Specialty Surfactants are biodegradable, designed to improve cleaning performance and provide greater formulation flexibility while also meeting the industry’s emerging environmental requirements, according to the company. These new surfactants provide benefits for a wide variety of hard surface cleaning applications.

According to Dow Fabric & Surface Care, the ingredients are a new generation of specialty surfactants that are fast wetting, low foaming and have low odor.

Two New Ingredients at Gelest

Gelest has rolled out two new cosmetic ingredients, SD Surface Modification (proposed INCI: hydroxy, methyl silsesquioxane) and SS Surface Modification (proposed INCI: triethoxystearylsilane).

According to Gelest, the SD pigments and fillers are coated with a hydroxyl terminated silsesquioxane network that improves adhesion to skin and hair. Because the SD pigments are hydrophobic, yet are not overly sensitive to oils, they are particularly suited for use in eye makeup formulations.

The SS surface modification combines the lubricious feel of oleaginous treatments with physical and chemical stability of a reacted coating. It can be used in a wide range of color and personal care products.
